First day of Online School

Image
Poem by Bracha! It was 21 av  The stars were shining bright  It was quiet in the house  You were all sleeping for the night And sitting there a warm smile  Came on to my face  As I remembered something special  That day that took place Your online school package  Of books all arrived And I saw the joy and excitement Shining in your eyes  You leafed through the pages  Of your previous heilike books And showed them to each other  Everyone wanted a look  I realized I was excited too  For very very soon  Our house would be filled with Torah Of kids learning in the room Tinokos shel beis rabban  Your Torah floods like light And brightens the streets of Prescott With it's special powerful might  Shoshana you'll learn aleph beis  Hashems treasure of letters Every day you'll practice  And get better and better  Mushka, first grade! Wow!  What a giant step  I'm excited for more kriah...

The Mikvah waters!

Image
Went on a wonderful hike with the family, and a couple other families.  The water in Wolf Creek Falls was flowing strong. It was a good reminder of the need for this community to have a mikvah. The mikvah waters are the foundation of the Jewish community. If anyone wants to get involved with this special Mitzvah let us know.

All Eyes watching

Image
There is something very special about our town square. Anything is possible there. Almost every time I stop by there, there's another story, animal, wandered, instrument or piece of art. This makes it a special place to do lots of Mitzvos proudly.  As a chabad Rabbi, I always take my tefillin around to perform this special Mitzvah. Dating back to Sinai, this mitzvah gives a special ominous protection to our brethren around the world, but especially in Israel. Whenever done at the square curious eyes watch, and people excitedly ask what the significance is.

Minyan time. 2 times so far this week!

Ladies first

This year as Tisha Bav set in I wasn't expecting a crowd. A. It was Saturday night around 9pm B.We usually have a service at the end of Tisha Bav which would be Sunday night. C. It was a dark and stormy night. To my surprise a group of women came. Infact, I was the only man over Bar mitzvah. It is well know that Jewish women have a special connection and yearning for the temple in Jerusalem going back to biblical times.  It was nice to see it in real time. May we merit the rebuilding of the Beis Hamikdash

Mendel hat the opportunity to meet with some of his best friends for the first time! They know each other from thousands of hours of online school, but something special about being in person. The kids here have no local Jewish school! Picturred are the kids of chabad rabbis from: Bellingham Washington Victoria Canada Sedona Arizona Anchorage Alaska Prescott Arizona And their dedicated teacher from Brooklyn. What a wonderful trip!

Mazal tov!

Image
One of my biggest pet peeves is servicing the car! We had  a "check engine light".  Brought it in. Yes job was under warranty! Met Dave. Put teffilin on first time in his life. Mazal tov!

Black belt

Image
I was talking business with a neighbor right outside and truck swerves next to Chabad. A lady in black belt uniform comes out. She's Jewish! Nice to meet you Allison!

Far Reaching

Image
Far reaching. This is Jack. Never met him. That is a Torah that we gave out shavuos. His grandmother was at the party and said I would love to pass on to my grand son. You never know how far your reach is. Shabbat shalom

Shavuos was busy. 3 days of Holiday. 3 days of Minyan. Shabbat segwayed into shavuos for 72 hours of a spiritual high. All night study until dawn with several community members and visitors.  Large attendance (65 men, women and kids) at the listening of the 10 commandments. Many people at yizkor Monday morning. Food. Food. Food. I always wonder if all the food I squeeze into our 4 freezers and 2 fridges will actually ever be eaten. Always mind boggling when it has been.  Visiting yeshiva students, family and friends. Torah discussions, back to back.  All this and not one picture. One of the greatest holidays does not allow picturs during the whole duration, according to Jewish law. Some pics from before and after.  Enjoy!

Mazal Tov! Bar Mitzvah in Prescott?

Image
Stepped out of the car. He was walking by.  "Are you Jewish?" "No, but my grandmother was." "Which grandmother? "Mother's mother." Mazal tov, he put in first time in his life!

I don't care

Image
"I don't Care!" We all heard this from our kids.... Some of us sometimes say it... Some said  it their parents.... We see it said all the time nowadays...... Why do we hear it so much??? Will people ever care?? Who cares? Come find out  this: Sunday at 11am at the weekly Parsha class at Chabad. We will explore facsinating sources, mysticism,  prophecies and guidance. Great discussion.

Be proud!

Should I Ask him? I've put tefillin on Yon in the public before. But this time... Should I ask him? I have kids with me, he has family with him. We're in Sprouts shopping after all.... He's done it before... I'll ask. "Wanna do it?" "Sure. Of course. Anytime" I give Mendel the credit card to pay for our groceries. Yon puts on proudly infront of the whole store. That's true Jewish Pride. Shavua Tov. Happy mother's day
